Instructions:

Students will create a travel brochure for a Spanish-speaking city or region of the world. You may have students compile information about the history and geography of the area, places to visit, things to do, places to stay, and restaurants. Students will design and print their brochures to share with the class.

REMEMBER:   THIS IS A SPANISH CLASS PERHAPS ALL THE INFORMATION IN THE BROCHURE

                        MUST BE IN SPANISH.

Suggested sequence:

1. Ask students to write their initial ideas of what the brochure might look like and what information they would like to include.

2. Students conduct an Internet research to select a region and gather information on activities, hotels, and restaurants.

Note: if you don’t have an iPad, you can use your cellphone. Otherwise you can use the class textbook or teacher will provide with some magazines.

3. Students document all Web sites or library sources they used to gather the information.

4. Students design the brochure and begin writing descriptions of the city or region they chose.

5. Have students present their projects to the class and display the brochures in the classroom.

Grading the Project:

This is a major grade 60%

Cada año en Texas hay competencias de deportes, arte, música, idiomas, matemáticas y ciencias. La Fundación de la Liga Interscolástica de Texas (Texas Interscholastic League) les presenta las becas universitarias a los ganadores de las competencias. El museo de Arte del  El Paso, por ejemplo, patrocina una competencia de arte. Otra competencia interesante es la de las bandas escolares de mariachis en San Antonio. ¿En qué competencias participan los estudiantes de tu colegio?
C. Translate the cultural note to the English language to full understanding. Then write a paragraph in "Spanish" regarding the question "which competence the students of your school Greenville H.S. are participating?" and if they received any awards as scholarships?"
Also, you must write if you participate in any sports and competence and need to mention if you have been awarded any prize or scholarship; in Spanish.

Connections - Language Note:

Root Words - in Spanish, the names of many stores are based on root words that suggest what can be found there. For example:

La frutería, la panadería, la floristería, and la carnicería are words that are rooted in the items

they offer (fruta, pan, flor, carne). Ask the students if they know of any store names in English that

begin in a way that lets us know what can be found there. (Like bakery)

3. Copiaremos el vocabulario del capítulo 3. La maestra lo pondrá en español en Power Point y tu buscaras el significado en Inglés para estudiarlo.

4. Ahora copia la lección que está en el board blanco (white board).
